Marc Deloof fotoWelcome to my webpage. I’m a professor of corporate finance at the University of Antwerp. From 2012 to 2015 I was also head of the Department of Accounting and Finance. Prior to joining the University of Antwerp in 2000, I was a post-doctoral research fellow of the Flemish Fund for Scientific Research (FWO) after receiving my PhD from the Free University of Brussels in 1996. I also held part-time positions as a professor or a lecturer at the Université catholique de Louvain, the Vlerick Business School, Ghent University, and Hasselt University, and I was visiting professor at the Hull University Business School, the University of Calabria and the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.

I very much like doing research. While I have a broad interest in corporate finance, my current research focuses on entrepreneurial finance and financial history. I have supervised numerous PhD students and published more than 40 articles in a wide range of international academic journals. These include finance journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management and Journal of Empirical Finance, as well as leading journals in the fields of accounting (The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies), entrepreneurship and small business (Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice) and economic history (Journal of Economic HistoryExplorations in Economic History). My research has been cited more than 5,000 times (cf. my Google Scholar Page). I’m also editor of the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, and I was guest editor of a Journal of Banking and Finance special issue on “New Developments in Entrepreneurial Finance”.
